SOLAR ENERGY
Photovoltaic: sunlight is converted into electricity using semiconductor materials. The electricity produced can be used directly, stored in batteries, or fed into the grid. It is installed on the roofs of houses or buildings, as well as on facades.
WIND ENERGY
Wind turbines: a giant windmill, energy is produced by wind generators that capture the wind's kinetic energy through their blades, which in turn drive a generator that produces renewable electricity.
BIOMASS
There are 3 families: wood energy (solid biomass), biogas, and biofuels.
- Wood energy: Wood-based fuel (firewood such as logs, wood pellets, forestry chips and sawdust or wood shavings)
- Biogas: Organic matter that releases biogas as it decomposes, through a fermentation process (anaerobic digestion)
- Biofuels: Ethanol, produced from 70% sugar beet and 30% cereals, or biodiesel, made from oilseeds (rapeseed and sunflower)
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
Harnessing heat stored underground- the deeper you dig, the higher the temperatures reached. You can install a heat pump that sends down cold water, which comes back up hot.
