Medical nitrous oxide is a colorless, odorless anesthetic with a sweet taste, used as a sedative and analgesic. Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is used in surgery and dentistry for its pain-blocking and pain-reducing effects.
CO2: used as an insufflation gas for invasive surgery (laparoscopy, endoscopy and arthroscopy).

It is also used to supply carbon dioxide incubators to support cell culture growth for virological, genetic, bacteriological or immunological diagnostics.
It is also used to convert liquid carbon dioxide (dip-tube cylinder) into carbonic snow, applied directly to the tissue being treated. The dip-tube model (Type B50) is also used as a backup tank for -80°C freezers.
Combined with cryosurgery equipment, the evaporation of frozen CO2 enables a rapid temperature drop at the tip of the cryogenic probe.
